Dear Members & Visitors

We hope that you find the info below of use! If you have any other useful tips (money saving, time saving or problem saving!) for the home, that you would like to share with other members, they will be much appreciated. Simply add them to this section of our blog!
Cleaner
I have found the perfect cleaner for most anything. It is called Bar Keepers Friend. It will clean your sinks, wheel rims, tarnish, rust. Everything I have tried it on it works.
Removing Crayon
To remove crayon from just about any surface (walls, fabric, upholstery), scrub with baby wipes. It works like magic, although it makes me wonder what's in baby wipes and whether I should be using them on my children!
Puppy Accidents
As soon as you notice your puppy has had an accident, soak up what you can with a paper towel. Pour undiluted vinegar on the spot and let it sit for a few minutes then soak it up with a clean paper towel. Vinegar is wonderful at neutralizing odors!
Whites Whiter
Wash your white clothes with hot water and soap first, then rinse if you want or just get the dirty water out and then restart washer and just add soap and bleach. (if you add bleach the first time around, the clothes gets this yellowish color)
Dreft vs. All Free And Clear
People who have babies ATTENTION! all free and clear have the same ingredients as Dreft only difference is the price. (Dreft have a little scent)
Glass Shower Doors
When you get the glass doors clean, use Spray & Wash. It will cause the water to run down in sheets, instead of staying on doors.
Aluminum Foil
Wrap your celery or lettuce in aluminum foil, it last for a long time better than any dish you can put it in NOTE: do not wash first
Cleaning-Bath and Kichen
I use Arm &Hammer baking Soda and add vinegar or lemon juice creating a foaming chemical reaction
Laundry Detergent/Fabric Softener
Add a cap full of Avon's bubble bath, any scent and you have your laundry detergent and fabric softener in one. You can also use it for dish soap, rug shampoo, dog shampoo, clean your bathroom, kitchen. Many uses for Avon's bubble bath besides putting in your bath water.
Ice-Cream If you look on about 90% of all types of ice cream, they will read 'well's dairy' or lemars, iowa. the fancy name brands and your basic store brands almost all come from the same company, its just the packaging that is different!! i know this because we deliver ice cream from this company to stores all over the country..walmart, ralph's, you name it, we delivered it there!! just thought you might like to know that is why they all taste about the same!!
Cuticle Softner - Remover
I do this right after getting out of the shower since my cuticles are soft to start. Rub a dry washcloth across each nail gently to remove any build up and then massage any cooking oil into each nail cuticle. Leave for 2 or 3 minutes and then remove and clip where needed. I use Olive Oil but again any cooking oil will work.
Getting Hard Stains Out
If you have hard stains to get out,off your bath tub, and cleaners, and scrubbing don't do, don't worry, spray some oven cleaner on it, wait a while, rinse with hot water, tub looks really white, and it will save your back.
Getting Out Ink
I use rubbing alcohol but you have to be careful and not use it on nylon fabrics
Fabric Softner Balls
I purchased some of the dryer balls at the drug store, and I just put a drop of essential oil in one before I place them in the dryer.
Getting Ink Out Of Clothes
Hairspray on the ink (works better if you spray asap)...then wash
Getting Ink Out Clothes2
Use alcohol, dab on stain, soak for a while, wash in hot boiling water, gets out ink. works great.
Save On Fabric Softener
Get a spray bottle fill with half water , then half fabric softener, any brand, use a new wash cloth, thats dry, spray the solution, you just made, on the wash cloth, throw in dryer, use as fabric softener sheets, lasts for years, so you dont have to keep buying fabric softeners, or sheets. keeps cloths soft and smelling great.
Keep Homes Warm Naturally
Open blinds, on sunny side of the home, use natural sunlight in home, to keep it warmer during colder weather, it works!
Treat Your Windows
Walmart and other hardware stores have a kit that you can use to "seal" your windows. The kit consist's of double sided tape, and clear plastic. After application, you are instructed to use a hair dryer to tighten the plastic. We have used this for several years and are very pleased with the results and the savings, both in winter and summer!
Use Your Own Shoping Bags
Use you own fabric shopping bags at the grocery and save the planet. Some store will give you money back for each bag you use.
Use EnergyStar Appliances
Replacing a old fridge with an EnergyStar model would save enough power to light the average household for nearly five months and you could possibly save about $100 a year
Turn Down The Thermostat
Lowering it by just one degree can reduce heating energy costs by about four percent and it lowers your heating bill by about $100 a year
